Special Projects
In addition to every day expenses, we will have some one time setup costs. These special projects are not included in our budget and are excellent opportunities for schools to contribute toward. This way, the students can see exactly where their money is going and know how much they have helped.
Computer for Paul
Paul provides computer support to language projects throughout Ghana as well as Monrovia, Liberia. This support includes a fair amount of travel which makes a laptop computer necessary. Along with day to day support and training, Paul also does programming and works with various types of media which makes it necessary to have a powerful workstation.
His current computer is four years old and needs to be replaced. In addition to the computer he will also need a docking station and other accessories. Donations for this project should be sent to LBT and marked "Paul Federwitz Computer."
Project Funding Needed: $2,500
Completed Projects
You have already helped us with many special projects. Thank you for what you have already done:
2008 - Scott Schuth
After being in Ghana for a year, it became apparent that Paul needed to provide more training for GILLBT staff members than time allowed. Paul's former boss at Concordia University Chicago came to visit us for about three weeks. During that time, he led workshops on Microsoft Office and Excel. These workshops were very well received by those in attendance. Not only did we enjoy a visit with a good friend, but Paul was able to continue to focus on his work while Scott provided a much needed service.
2008 - Ali's Computer
It was very difficult for Ali to accomplish all that she needed to do while sharing a computer with Paul. Since he was at the office all day with the laptop, Ali was only able to use it for a very short time each evening. Your gifts allowed us to purchase a MacBook Pro for Ali. With this tool she is able to accomplish simple tasks such as writing email and prayer letters as well as more complex things dealing with photos and video editing not to mention the educational consulting work that she does. Having her own computer has allowed Ali the ability to complete much of her work during the day which leaves the evenings for quality family time.
2006 - Vehicle
Getting around Ghana is not always easy. We needed a 4x4 SUV so that Paul could get to the project offices to provide support. The majority of roads leading to these offices are dirt roads and are in poor condition. With your help, we were able to purchase a Toyota Fortuner which is similiar to a 4Runner. It has been a a true blessing, allowing Paul to be the first expat IT person to visit many of the GILLBT projects and providing them with much needed computer support and training.
2006 - Housing Setup
Moving to another country is a little more complicated than moving to a neighboring state. It is too expensive to ship furniture and appliances and just about anything else besides clothing. Because of this, all of these items needed to be purchased once we arrived in Ghana. Your donations helped us to adequately furnish, repair and maintain our house. It is not only a place where our family feels at home but it also allows us to host other LBT missionaries when they come to Tamale.
