After dropping off Hannes and Nelson in Nkwanta, Paul and Ruben continued to Pusupu where they picked up a desktop computer from the Ntrubo project. From there they continued to Santrokofi where they were based for the next two days.
At each of the offices Paul worked on the computers. The first step is always to update the antivirus program and clean the computer. Then he worked on the Unicode conversion.
While Paul was working on the computers, Ruben Dubei who works in Scripture in Use (SIU) met with project staff. Four of the language projects that we visited had just dedicated their New Testaments the month before.
Of course if the computer won't boot, some things have to be done before dealing with viruses. Dead hard drives and blown power supplies are two common problems.
The Tuwuli office may be on the beaten path, but is definitely off road.
The trip from Tamale to Santrokofi is about seven hours. Five of those hours is on very rough road where a top speed of 25 MPH is considered good. Watching a truck like this go past silences complaints about discomfort when you are traveling in an air conditioned 4x4.
